Hurricane Shutters

Midgard Construction is now approved to sell and install the Bertha HV Accordion Shutter System. You finally have the option of AFFORDABLE Hurricane Shutters in the Galveston County and Clear Lake Area!

The Bertha HV Accordion Shutter is hands down the best shutter available today on the market. It is an approved system by the Texas Department of Insurance. ( This product is used in both single family residential and commercial buildings. The versatile locking blade systems allow this product to span tall areas.

Bertha HV (High Velocity) is the perfect solution for securing patios, balconies, and terraces which have large expanses of windows, plus bay windows, curved or corner windows, and glass doors. (See pictures at bottom of page.) This premier shuttering system has been installed on many homes and high-rise condominiums. They can be installed in tracks of any length because they have built in reinforcing and do not require any additional reinforcement with vertical braces or supports.

The BERTHA HV Shutters are constructed of reinforced, heavy gauge extruded aluminum panels. These shutters are painted using an electro statically applied, baked-on enamel finish that can be purchased in one of four colors: WHITE, BEIGE, IVORY, and BRONZE. They can also be bumped out to fit any raised windows. Our shutters will be custom made for each of your windows, we do not sell stock shutters.

The Shutters provide protection against up to Category 5 hurricane winds. These accordion panels have been tested to wind speeds of 230 mph, and carry the approval of many of the states along the Gulf Coast and Eastern Seaboard.

The BERTHA HV Shutters come with key locks, so you can protect your property against forced entry when home or while traveling.

The BERTHA HV Accordion Shutters also increase energy efficiency by effectively blocking sunlight and providing a degree of insulation that keeps your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

When not in use, the BERTHA HV Accordion Shutters stack compactly next to the opening. Due to their design, they have the smallest storage requirement of any accordion shutter.

These shutters can be installed on new construction or retro-fitted into existing buildings. They can be closed from the outside or inside by opening the window. The locking mechanism can also be installed to lock the shutters from the inside. (Which is important for 2nd story windows or elevated houses.)
